The Beginning

Want more info?

If you have made it this far, you likely know that as of March 23rd, 2013, I will be living in the Dominican Republic for an extended, semi-undetermined amount of time - probably about a year. It is the biggest, craziest thing I have ever done. But that is what I said last year when I was there for 10 weeks... but God is faithful and so I cannot worry. :) It is not about me anymore anyway. Life is SO much bigger!

I will be serving in Jimani, Dom. Rep., (for a map click here or the "where" page tab above), at the Chadasha Children's Home. The Chadasha Foundation is a faith-based organization out of Tennessee with ministry locations in both the DR and Haiti with a mission to "serve the poorest of the poor to make Jesus famous." My original connection with them was through the Hanley family (read their blog) whom I met on my very first trip to the DR in January of '09. After serving with New Missions in Sosua for several years, they were given the opportunity to manage Chadasha's children's home and medical facility. They felt God's leading in that direction, and had been in Jimani for about a year and a half when I stayed with them for the first time in March 2012.

Since the close of my last trip, the ministry in Jimani has more than doubled, and now, there are about 50 kids who are part of the program (some live on campus full-time while others are just there for the day), and another family from the States has been drawn there by the Lord to serve. (Stephen and Vanderly Arnold's blog is here.) They have been working on a really cool project to create an aquaponics system that will be simple and self-sustaining and something that can be taught to the locals! Very cool.   ... I might have to learn to like eating fish ;P

It is so exciting to continue to be a part of this story and I pray that God would be made known through us. I cannot wait to share with you!

Be sure to check back for updates, or sign up for email alerts (to the right) whenever I create a new post!

Let me know if you have any questions!

And please remember to keep this adventure in your prayers. It is all by God's grace and provision.
